  1. enable/disable auto reload

    Currently, panel content is inevitably reloaded after every operation. Whilst this behaviour may be convenient, there are various scenarios where it turns really painful, e. g.

    • local directories with many files (hundreds or thousands)
    • any listings with thumbnails
    • any search results (being recalculated again and again)
    • remote directory listings over slow/expensive connections, especially when there are many files

    As a user who frequently works with such cases or, even worse, combinations of them, I would greatly appreciate if auto reloading was optional.

  2. Search file result should display path (e.g. in Info)

    You can search for files in GhostCommander by name pattern, using *.
    This is a very useful feature.

    When you search for files you get a list of files as result.
    In the result list, each file is displayed with name size and age.
    Each file has an Info context menu popup window that displays hashsums of the file, apart from repeating the name and the size.

    The Info popup does not display the path of the file.

    The only option to retrieve the path of a file (I found) is the copy name and paste into an editor.

  3. Remind vertical scrolling positions

    The scrolling position isn't stored when GC is being minimized or when switching to a different app. Therefore you're always back at the top of the file list when you return to GC and not where you actually scrolled to.

  5. Adding NTFS support...

  6. Make files shareable via Ghost Commander

    For example, when I'm browsing pictures in the camera gallery, I would like to click the share icon and then select Ghost Commander. Ideally, once GC opens up, you'd be prompted to select destination, which would be one of your favorites (including SFTP servers etc.).

  8. for files without extension, determine the file type using the magic number

    I have some files (music and videos) that do not have file extensions. On Linux, I can just use them anyway because it detects the file type based on the first few bytes. On android, I always have to choose from all installed apps.

  9. Sort and rename favorites

    1. Able to rename favorites and hide path. Along with other various 'ugly' bookmarked locations like ftp, this new SAF method in Marshmallow displays favorites in a not very friendly manner.

    2. Able to sort favs by name, and not path.

    3. Also have a setting to sort favs differently that the global method so your default sort method for files and folders can be by date while sorting favorites by name by default.

  11. Improve ssh key exchange

    I've got my server locked down pretty tight for ssh key exchanges, since some of the older protocols have security issues. The SFTP plugin doesn't appear to support them. I get the following message and ghost commander just sits saying "wait..."

    My server says:
    sshd[31951]: Unable to negotiate with <ipaddress> port 40118: no matching key exchange method found. Their offer: diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1,diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 [preauth]

    Support authentication subkeys on smart cards and other security tokens (Yubikey) over NFC and USB like TermBot SSH does.

  13. Hardlinks and symlinks.

    Support creation of symlinks and hardlinks in filesystems that support them.

    Possible applications:
    - Hardlink installed APK files into /data/media to allow read access from unprivileged apps (e.g. for Bluetooth sharing)
    - Hardlink files between user directories within /data/media for multiuser systems
    - Symlink rarely used or big APK files into a different partition.
    - Every other kind of cool stuff one can do with hardlinks and symlinks.

  14. Rename more then one file in the same time

    Using Total Comander in Windows, I find very useful the possibility to select multiple files and rename them all at once, adding a counting number or just adding some other text to the files.
    Renaming every single file at a time is pretty a waste of time (for me).

  15. add support for One Drive and Amazon drive.

    Current dropbox, box and gdrive access is great. Adding these two would simply coordinating between them all!

  16. Add a GUI directory selector in Copy/Move and Save As dialogs

    The Copy/Move dialog displays the destination directory, which by default is set to the directory of the opposite panel as in all orthodox file managers The destination can be changed in the dialog, however, only by manual input. There is no way to select a directory via GUI. There is a similar problem with the Save As dialog in the editor. I suggest to add to these dialogs an option for a GUI directory selector. Out of curiosity, I checked Total Commander on Android, and it has a GUI selector in these dialogs. The best option for a GUI selector…

  17. Maintain a history of working directories

    Ghost commander should maintain a history of working directories so that users can easily return to a directory from earlier. An alternative approach would be to support a directory stack à la pushd/popd.

  20. Add Operations Menu

    Add a selection for the file operations menu when you press the menu button so you can copy, move, sendto, delete a file(s) without having to long press. You would have to highlight a file or files first.
