I would rather ask for .tar and .tgz

That's a perfect idea! I enhanced the idea even by making it easier to share with cloud apps with my suggestion:
"Share file(s) with GC -> GC compresses and encrypt the file with 7z with a predefined password and sends it to cloud/SD/WhatsApp.."

Yes please!!
Also it would be really nice if password-protection for archives was supported... it would be nice to be able to store all that sensitive data (passwords, bank credentials, etc) in a compressed and encrypted TXT file that you can access on the spot from your phone in the standard file manager.
I havent found a single encryption/kestorage app that was really satisfactory. Support in ghost commander for password protection of archive files that can be opened and viewed as if they were directories would be really awesome.
Using an encrypted archive has several benefits over other custom ways to encrypt data.. one of the most important is that it's pretty portable to multiple platforms, whereas custom encryption methods usually require very specific apps that might not be available in all platforms.
I can just keep my sensitive information in dropbox / syncthing and keep it safe under a password protected 7z or zip, accessible from any of my devices.
